Saving Gas

We all know that gas continues to go up straining our budgets. In the real estate business we put a lot of miles on our vehicles showing buyers around, checking on listings, and delivering paperwork.

I have been spending somewhere between $400 and $600 per month this year on gas and I'm tired of paying that much for gas. The reality is that 90% of the time I'm in the vehicle by myself, not with clients.

Therefore, I have purchased a 2006 KIA to use in my business. I of course still have the huge realtor vehicle for when I need to drive around clients. But for the other 90% of the time I will be consuming a lot less gas.

So when you see me running around in my little blue KIA it's not because the real estate market continues to slow. It's because it is saving me money.

This is in keeping with a business principle I learned many years ago...It's not how much you make, it's how much you keep that counts.

My KIA will allow me to keep a little bit more of my hard earned dollars in my pockets.

Have you made any adjustments because of the high gas prices? If so, what are they? Leave your comments and let me know what you are doing.
